The Black Swans ..!
Once upon a time, there was a king named Louis and Queen Marie. They ruled a kingdom with three tire social divisions: The kings, Nobles and Ordinary people. Kings and Nobles exploited people by levying heavy taxes. King spent all the money on war and did not care about the people. People revolted and killed the king, queen and nobles who were against them. The government raised in that bloodshed with the motto that benefits people. The government did not survive and finally ended up in the hand of a dictator.
You just read a summary of the French Revolution. Wonder when my blog turned into a history class? It is not one.
I felt it is important to know where " The Democracy" was born and that we are the largest democracy in the world.
France is going to host the Olympics next year. When I saw the words "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" on the City Hall Building in front of which has the display of the Olympic rings. I just shouted they are in our Preamble!

I realized that I never paid a lot of attention to other countries in Europe other than British. I must have left that chapter in the history subject during my schooling for choice because of the difficult words that I can't spell.
French Revolution brought the ideas - Democracy, Secularism, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity and Freedom of Speech. Another interesting fact is that when there was a revolt from ordinary people in France, King made the people's representation sit on the left of throne and Nobles sat on the right of throne. This is how the Left and Right wings were born. The leftist and rightist thoughts then evolved with the generations.
India adopted the revolutionary thoughts of France, and incorporated non-violence. When the British left India, they said that civil wars will destroy Indians. They saw a live example, France and made such a statement but India learnt from past mistakes of other countries and made us a successful democracy. From adopting their ideology.....to providing them with our technology(UPI)......, India made huge progress!
France also learnt from its mistakes, developed and now became a country with the city of love, luxury, art and culture. France is the birth place of many luxury products like Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and L'Oreal. France is known for its fashion and they introduced the camouflage military uniforms. Paris, the city of love has the largest museum, oldest universities and beautiful palaces with amazing history. And who hates French wine?
Swan is a bird that is considered to be in white. Black swan is the term that is used to represent situations that are unpredictable. That is exactly how I describe the past three months of my life and the French Revolution!
I started working in a new office and with a new team, selected the wrong address on Uber and went to a factory instead of a bus boarding location, spent almost 300 rupees for a half liter water bottle twice, tasted duck breast, wine and cheese, met people around the globe, managed expenses with a friend, experienced what an adult-student life is, learnt few words in French and watched the sunset at 10:30 pm.
Voila! Quite a ride it was.
I am not innocent pose ;) |
